Lise Ellingsen
Lise Ellingsen, born in Oslo, Norway, is a multidisciplinary artist exploring femininity, nature, and spirituality. She earned her BFA in Graphic Design at New York’s School of Visual Arts and an MFA in Visual Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her work blends sculpture, drawing, animation, and video performance, using humor to critique Western culture’s detachment from nature and drawing on her Norwegian heritage and Norse mythology for inspiration.
Recently, Ellingsen presented immersive installations at Wassaic Project, Upstate NY, Solo shows at SPRING/BREAK Art Show, Chashama Gallery, and Trygve Lie Gallery in Manhattan, and group show in Tigers Strikes Astroid Gallery in Philly. She participated in prestigious residencies, including the Wassaic Project in NY, and RUC Residency in Italy.
Founder of “Artists for Animals, a global fundraiser for animal welfare and the feminist fashion line, Blondes Make Better T-shirts, Ellingsen’s work has been featured in Nylon Japan and Elle Singapore. Her art weaves cultural commentary with themes of mythology and nature, creating evocative, thought-provoking experiences.
